Weddings throughout the decades.
28th November at the Woodsdale Hall fashion parade.

Wedding memorabilia from wedding and bridesmaid dresses to photographs and invitations.

The collection of dresses range in date from the early 1900s to the 1980s with photographs of the wedding day and information about the people involved. Many items on display relate to the families in and around Levendale and Woodsdale with some from outside the areas.
Invitation and acceptance cards are on show giving an insight to the preparation of when these weddings took place.

First Act: 12 noon:
Step back in time to the late 1800s when John McConnon had an interest in River-moon-shining the illegal distillation of Whiskey at Levenbanks property in Levendale. The constables came out to arrest John, but as the story goes he said to them to stay and have a drink. They consumed too much and fell asleep. John McConnon then left on his best horse to
Hobart Town. John McConnon ended up in New Zealand and he died in 1894.

 

Second Act: 12.30pm:
The local Shearer’s in the shearing shed all wanting attention from the pretty nurses of the RHH Burns Unit to deal with their cuts and burns.

 

Third Act: 1pm:
Mrs. Bellette found in her large feather bed drinking tea and telling some stories of how hard life was in Woodsdale.

 

Come along and have a fun day of role play comedy acts at the Woodsdale Museum on Sunday 31st of May for Heritage Festival Month.

 

The shows will be held in the two new sheds built with funds from the Tasmanian Community Fund Grant. Museum will open from 11am to 3pm. Cost $5 per adult, children free.

Sausage Sizzle available at a small cost and free tea and coffee. Role playing acts start at 12 noon until 2pm. Dolls, Toys & Teddies over the years.

 This 1936 doll was made in Canada.

 For the next 3 months on display at the Woodsdale Museum will be a collection of dolls, toys and teddies.

Our new opening times are Sundays only from 11am to 3pm or by appointment.

From the 8th February 2009 the charge to visit the museum is

 

$5 adult and children free.
